I’ve mentioned that I have found my niche, or my area of service. Which of course, is creating multimedia content. In hindsight, that should have been obvious. Maybe instead of trying to figure out what kind of service, I should have been figuring out to whom I should provide the service.
At any rate, I now feel certain my service is to provide a modern publication focused on the people, places and events of E-LBK. We’re still determining what the format will be, but we got off to a pretty good start getting the word out.
This past weekend, the Silver Foxx and I set up a table at the East Lubbock Art House’s Brunch n’ Booze event.
Our presentation was a foam core board with pictures of local historical figures, and everyday people. Beside many of the pictures were QR codes with links to our content.
The point of our presentation was to show people the quality of the content they can expect from the new publication, and to ask them to provide some basic contact info that will help us get started. Basically, it was Substack, in real life.
We also exhibited and talked about a few of our recent collages. On May 31, 2023, we will use the contact info we gained to hold a drawing, and the winner will walk away with one of those collages.
This was a very positive event for us. People seemed receptive to our ideas, and genuinely interested having a modern publication focused on the E-LBK.
There was also a good selection of vendors there and everyone had interesting pieces. We bought a piece from Jada, aka T.M.E. She and I are both poets and we seem to share a vision about bringing a cool, vibey spoken word venue to fruition, so I hope we can make some moves on that front.
Maggie Jane’s Farm had some really cool “Cynaotypes”. I’ve never heard of the process, but Jane basically prints cyan colored images onto glass. She can do customs as well. These were really pretty dope.
I didn’t have time to speak with everyone, but I did get several more pics. We may end up doing more these events. I realize I’ve produced quite a bit of content lately, and I may refine my presentation by including a laptop. I also had a good idea about how to combine my poetry, collages and video together in away that would work as an exhibit. This is going to take quite a while to put together, but I must do it.
Again, I have found my niche— in more ways than one.
By the way, the picture at the top of this article is called “Linking Worlds, Both Dream and Undream. That’s a line from a poem I did called “…streaming”, which you can watch below.
Will do, Lois! Thanks for the encouragement!
I love the content and pics you took, keep moving in that vein. The Lord is ordering your steps according to His will for your life 💋💓
